Russian Maslenitsa or the Pancake Week in Singapore

Russian Maslenitsa or the Pancake Week was traditionally celebrated at Buyan Russian Restaurant and Bar on February 21, 2015. The event was organized by the Elbatross Events and the Russian Club in Singapore and supported by the Unique Singapore Magazine and Russian Souvenirs in Singapore. The symbolic welcoming of spring and farewell to winter turned out to be very lively and cheerful. The representatives of the Russian community together with their foreign guests enjoyed playing traditional Russian folk games, solving riddles, participating in the holiday quiz and welcoming spring. The winners of the festive lottery received wonderful gifts from the event sponsors and partners. The entertainment program also included master classes in floral design and textiles painting. Besides, everyone could take part in the creation of small scarecrows of Maslenitsa, which were taken home by the guests as souvenirs. Such an event would no doubt be so remarkable without a traditional burning of Lady Maslenitsa scarecrow, after which all guests got nice take-away gifts from the event partners. The folk festival was a great success! Many thanks to everyone who came and shared this festival with us!
